Yahweh is my light and my salvation, whom should I fear?

Yahweh is the fortress of my life, whom should I dread? One thing I ask of Yahweh, one thing I seek: to dwell in Yahweh's house all the days of my life, to enjoy the sweetness of Yahweh, to seek out his temple.

Yahweh, hear my voice as I cry, pity me, answer me! Of you my heart has said, 'Seek his face!' Your face, Yahweh, will I seek!

DO YOU KNOW that the Book of Psalms is a collection of 150 songs, prayers, poems and hymns gathered over a very long period of time? There are different types of psalms: some tell stories, some are songs of praise, some are prayers of repent-ance. Each psalm has its own unique character, but they are all deeply emotional and profoundly spiritual.

The Psalms are not meant to be simply read, but to be prayed. They encompass the whole range of human emotions from sorrow, lament and depression to joy, praise and celebra-tion. The whole collection of psalms is often referred to as The Psalter.
